“The German Bundestag will contribute to the efforts for a sustainable peace agreement between the conflict-parties in the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In order to be able to offer to the displaced people of the South Caucasus a permanent and safe return to their homeland it is important to return the occupied Azerbaijani territories of Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding Azerbaijani regions. Therefore we support the Minsk Group’s call for UN engagement. All forms of displacement contradict the European Idea. In making the absolutely necessary effort for a quick and sustainable solution of the conflict, we must also consider the interests of the many refugees. This is why, to uphold European interests, we are committed to see the rapid implementation not only of the decisions of the Minsk group but of all resolutions of the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the OSCE.”

Thomas Bareiß merkt auch an, dass die Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Aserbaidschan durch einen offenen Meinungsaustausch auf hoher Ebene über eine Vielzahl von Themen Gestalt nehmen und er fährt fort: “Past decades have shown that peace is a vital condition for the security of prosperity and progress of all nations. Therefore we wish to intensify and extend the bilateral relations on all levels, firstly in order to permanently guarantee the security and safety of our Azerbaijani partners, secondly in order to work together towards a solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”
